Series by Moon Jung-hoo & Ryu Ki-woon
Yongbi the Invincible is a martial arts manhwa that was completed in 2002, after about 6 years of serialisation. Based on fictional settings set in ancient China, it tells the adventures of Yongbi, a seemingly foolish bounty hunter who’s unscrupulous, lecherous and greedy to boot, and Biryong, his horse and faithful sidekick. Considered the best martial arts manwha to come out of Korea to date, it is also the title often mentioned as a candidate for the best Korean manwha of all time. New followers of the series might be a little put off by the seemingly dated art or comedic elements that make the series a bit too light-hearted for their liking, but rest assured – the more you read, the more you’ll be captivated by its steadily improving art, deep and well-thought-out plot, and action packed with daring and exuberant martial art moves and battle scenes.
This epic series was licensed in English by Central Park Manga, but only three volumes were released before the publisher went bankrupt in 2009. It was then picked up and scanlated from the first chapter in very high quality by our friends at Random Scanlations, who forked out a bit of money to purchase the collectors’ edition volumes of the entire series, which cost three times more than the regular volumes. Now we are happy to announce that for the upcoming volume, which is Volume 7, SCS will help continue the releases by providing assistance with translating and typesetting for the volume until their regular staff returns from illness.
Random Scanlations have been doing a great job so far and we are really playing second fiddle here, so please head over to their site to post a comment, if you haven’t already ~ Here is their release page!
