Series by Moon Jung-hoo & Ryu Ki-woon
Hello everyone,
I figured this would be a good time for this announcement & information on the hiatus notice by the authors.
In the last update back in September, I wrote that I’d be away until November – and as it turns out, I’m still ‘away’. I really underestimated the scope of work involved (then again, I wasn’t given accurate estimate either), and while I’ve reached the final stretch, I still expect to be away till late January.
Also, I saw on Line Webtoon that they’ve more or less caught up to the raw releases, so I don’t really see any point in resuming from where we left off. And few months ago, we were contacted by a company to work on translating webtoon scripts, one of which included ‘Gosu’ – unfortunately it didn’t quite work out between us and the deal fell through, but in the light of that, I don’t think it’s appropriate for us to continue producing scripts for Gosu even when we’re able to resume.
But a raw chapter released a fortnight ago (Gosu s2c75) has rendered all of this moot, because it included a hiatus notice – it revealed that the storywriter for the series, Mr. Ryu Gi-woon, was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer a while back and has been undergoing treatment while still working on Gosu, but he’s finally reached the limit and needs to focus fully on fighting & recovering from cancer. So as of Dec 18, 2018, Gosu has been placed on an indefinite hiatus. Best of wishes to Mr. Ryu and we hope he regains his health, no matter how long it takes.
So in summary, we’ve decided not to release any further Gosu scripts for now. We’re very sorry about this, especially to those of you who may have been waiting for our version of scripts. Thanks for all your support, much appreciated and it’s been a great ride.
Some of you commented about us working on Yongbi sequel – well, to those who didn’t know, I (Ghost) was actually the translator for the original Yongbi from the beginning to the end (under the nick Yongbi), lol. So uhm, it’s a no go for working on the sequel either.
That’s about it – we’ll keep you updated if we ever change our mind about Gosu scripts – but for now, adios.
Best wishes for the New Year,
Ghost
